How to fix Remote Desktop Connection Manager 2.7 full screen issue


I recently upgraded Remote Desktop Connection Manager (RDCMan) 2.2 to version 2.7. After I fixed the popup window issue (http://andyinmatrix.blogspot.ca/2015/07/how-to-fix-remote-desktop-connection.html), I encountered another even worse issue: the host’s screen doesn’t scale to fit the full size of the local client screen size, which the RDCMan version 2.2 is doing very well. I have to use scroll bars to get the “start” button. This is really annoyed.



A few steps to fix this problem:

Click menu “tool”-> “options”



Click tab “Client Area”. Make sure “Lock window size” is unchecked.



Right click the very top root level of the hosts tree (it is actually your .rdg file name), select “properties”



Click tab “Remote Desktop Settings”; uncheck "Inherit from parent"; check "Same as client area", click ok.



That’s all. Enjoy the full screen. And of course, don’t forget to save your .rdg file.

    Thanks for a very useful post. I'd to disconnect all server sessions and select the top-level node before making any changes. The first change (setting the custom pixels didn't seem to have any effect at all). The second one -- changing the properties for the group node -- is the doozy. It did the trick. Thank you.

    Hello, I don't know if its because I have a 13" screen withe 3200x1800 screen but when I log into vpn I get the full screen but the icons are way too small for me to read. When I zoom in on the vpn client then I have to use scroll bars to get anywhere and that is way too cumbersome. Any ideas for how to get a vpn screen to look anywhere near like my hi def screen in terms of size of icons is much appreciated.

      You may have to lock the windows size. On the tab "Client Area", check "Lock Window size" and select one of the sizes, like 1600*1200.

    Kudos for posting this. Very useful. Though this is an older thread, I want to add on another addition to the answer. In addition to enabling "Same As Client Area" option on Remote Desktop Settings, you should also enable "Scale docked desktop to fit window" and/or "Scale undocked desktop to fit window" depending on whether you use docked or undocked. Otherwise, I still had to scroll up/down and left/right to reach the corners of my screen.
